It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours. We ask children to wear their shirts tucked into their skirts or trousers and to take a pride in their personal appearance. 

Unless stated as 'Regis Manor' below items do not need to be branded with the school logo (although this is an option for some items).  Some items of uniform can be bought from school, whilst others are easily available, at very competitive prices, at local shops including supermarkets.

Our policy on school uniform is based on the belief that school uniform:

• Is regarded as suitable clothing for school
• Is good value for money
• Is designed with health and safety in mind

Day uniform:-

• Grey skirt, pinafore dress, formal shorts or trousers or blue and white checked dress
• Plain navy cardigan, pullover, fleece or v-neck sweatshirt
• White shirt or polo shirt (Yrs Foundation – 4)
• White shirt (Yrs 5 and 6)
• Regis Manor Tie with a gold stripe – (Yrs 5 and 6)
• Navy blue blazer (Yrs 5 and 6) with a Regis Manor badge
• Black school shoes or sandals - no trainers, boots or high heels

PE Kit:-

• Navy blue shorts
• Regis Manor PE t-shirt in the colour of your child's house with logo (these need to be purchased from the school)
• Indoor PE should be completed in bare feet
• Plain navy blue tracksuit
• Black or white trainers for outdoor PE

Jewellery, Hair Ornaments, Make-up and Nail Varnish

For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery other than small stud earrings. These must be removed by the child prior to taking part in PE lessons (please note that adults cannot assist with this).

Children in KS2 may wear a small wristwatch. Some religious jewellery may on occasion be permitted, this will be considered by the headteacher on a case-by-case basis.

Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back at all times while at school. Hair bands, ribbons/small bows or ‘scrunchies’ should be plain and either blue or black. Hair bands should not have attachments – for example flowers.

Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school unless for an out of school hours function, for example a school disco. Extreme hairstyles are not appropriate for school. The use of styling products should be kept to a minimum and children should not have decorative patterns cut into their hair or have hair coloured or dyed.

Children are not permitted to bring mobile phones into school. We do however recognise that there may be exceptional circumstances where this may be needed. If you believe your child has to bring a phone into school permission should be sought by completing a form which can be obtained from your child’s class teacher or from the office. Mobile phones must then be handed into the school office for safe keeping during the school day.

Cost and availability

Under The School Admissions Code 2014, the school must ensure that “policies around school uniform or school trips do not discourage parents/carers from applying for a place for their child” Regis Manor Primary School is committed to fulfilling the DfE’s recommendations on costs and value for money. Every care has been taken to ensure that our uniforms are affordable for all current and potential pupils, and that the best value for money is secured through reputable suppliers.

Regis Manor Primary School is flexible in its school uniform requirements to enable parents and carers to get the best value for money possible.

The school does not amend uniform requirements regularly and takes into account the views of parents and carers and pupils when considering changes to school uniforms.

Religious clothing

Some religions and beliefs require their members to conform to a specific dress code. Regis Manor Primary School does not discriminate against any religion or belief; however, the school must weigh the needs and rights of individual pupils against the cohesion and health and safety concerns of the entire school community. The school endeavours to allow most religious requirements to be met.

Parents’ and carers’ concerns and requests regarding religious clothing are dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Head of School and Board of Governors, and always in accordance with the school’s Complaints Policy.

Labelling

All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with the pupil’s name.

Equality

The school is required to ensure that the Uniform Policy does not discriminate unlawfully. Every step has been taken by Regis Manor Primary School to ensure that uniform expectations are not based on gender and the cost of uniforms are not disproportionate.
